What Idie Guides do
One-to-one visits
Helping people in their own homes with their phones, tablets and computers, at their pace.
Remote help
Talking people through things over a video call, while they share their screen and stay in control.
Scam checks
Helping people tell a genuine message from a scam, and what to do next.
Who we're looking for
- Patient, warm and good at explaining things in plain words
- Confident with phones, tablets and computers, and happy to keep learning
- Reliable, honest and respectful of people's homes and privacy
- Comfortable working one-to-one with adults of any age
You don't need to be a technical expert. Being kind, clear and patient matters more than knowing everything.
How it works
- Apply below. It takes about 10 minutes, and we'll email you a confirmation.
- A friendly chat by phone or video when we start recruiting.
- References and a DBS check before your first visit. Every Idie Guide has one.
- Training with us: short courses on how we work and our nine promises, then visits alongside an experienced guide.
- Your first visits, with support whenever you need it.
Pay, hours and how you'd work with us will be shared when we start recruiting. Home visits are mainly in and around Cambridge; remote help can be from anywhere in the UK.
